EnvVault Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 31, 2026

Summary

EnvVault is a Chrome extension for storing and organizing environment variables locally in your browser profile. EnvVault does not operate a server, does not use analytics, does not show ads, and does not sell or share user data.

Data EnvVault Handles

EnvVault handles only the information you manually enter or import into the extension, such as project names, environment variable names, environment variable values, comments, and tags. This may include authentication information if you choose to store API keys, tokens, passwords, or similar secrets.

How Data Is Stored

Your vault data is stored locally in the Chrome profile where the extension is installed. EnvVault encrypts vault data before storing it using browser-provided Web Crypto APIs with PBKDF2-SHA256 key derivation and AES-GCM encryption. Your master password is used to derive the encryption key and is not stored by the extension.

If you forget your master password, EnvVault cannot recover the encrypted vault data.

How Data Is Used

EnvVault uses your data only to provide its single purpose: local storage, organization, masking, copying, importing, and exporting of environment variables. Clipboard access occurs only after you click a copy button. File download and file import actions occur only after you click the relevant import or export controls.

Data Sharing and Transmission

EnvVault does not transmit your vault data to the developer or to third parties. EnvVault does not collect browsing history, website content, form data from web pages, cookies, analytics, or account identifiers.

EnvVault does not sell, rent, transfer, or share user data with advertising platforms, data brokers, or information resellers.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use Disclosure

The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Data Deletion

You can delete all locally stored EnvVault data from the extension's Settings screen by choosing Clear Local Vault. You can also remove the extension from Chrome to delete extension-associated local data from that browser profile.
